K-8 Program

Teaching Based on Learning Styles

At SPS we believe that all children grow and develop at different rates through different learning styles. Children are given the opportunity to explore, create, and problem solve with materials that are developmentally appropriate.

Our theme-based curriculum allows our teachers to develop unique and creative learning environments. Lesson plans are developed according to specific, grade-appropriate objectives addressing the whole child with the goal of establishing a foundation for learning to last a lifetime.

Classroom time is structured in a flexible way to allow for students to reach their full potentials while learning in each student's unique style. With lots of one-on-one as well as small and large group lesson time, children are able to have lessons tailored to their learning style.

With standard math and ELA blocks, creative science activities and experiments, social studies, and daily specials classes including PE, Spanish, Art, Music, Library, and Christian Education, students at SPS receive a well-rounded education while fostering a sense of self and social caring.

Some of what we offer includes:

Project Presentations
SPS is committed to building each child’s self-esteem and helping each child to develop verbal skills. Presenting projects to different classes helps to facilitate growth in these two critical areas.

Test Taking Accommodations

At SPS we understand that taking tests can be anxiety-producing for some children. Our teachers work with students on their test-taking skills and are able to give students more time if needed.

Extracurricular Activities

We are pleased to offer a variety of after-school activities for our SPS children. Activities including tap-ballet classes, soccer, yoga, LEGO club, and chess club are offered to our preschool and grade school students.

Sharing Programs and Family Meals
It is SPS’s tradition to invite our families several times each year to participate in school wide events, such as holiday performances, music programs, potluck lunches, and family picnics.

SPS maintains a large library full of interesting books, which students can check out during school hours. We feature an Author of the Month and guest readers share the author's books each week to every class. Often special book characters come for a visit or special activity. We also celebrate Read Across America Month with a reading marathon and special guest readers, host a Read-A-Thon, and have two book fairs per year.
