At SPS we believe that all children grow and develop at different rates through different learning styles. Children are given the opportunity to explore, create, and problem solve with materials that are developmentally appropriate.

Our theme-based curriculum allows our teachers to develop unique and creative learning environments. Lesson plans are developed according to specific, grade-appropriate objectives addressing the whole child with the goal of establishing a foundation for learning to last a lifetime while fostering a sense of self and social caring.

Literacy

SPS maintains an ever-growing library full of books for all reading levels and interests which students can check out during school hours. Each month, an author or genre from all around the world is highlighted, which our Media Specialist reads and discusses with each class during their Library special class time.

We also celebrate Read Across America Month with a reading marathon and special guest readers, host an annual Read-A-Thon, and have two book fairs each year (local book shop Little Shop of Stories and Scholastic).

Day-to-Day

SPS promotes center-based learning in the classroom. Students take part in small-group, whole-class, and individualized instruction throughout the school day.

Our classroom curricula aligns with the Georgia Standards. Teachers are able to pull curriculum pieces from various resources to best meet each student where they are on their learning journey.

In addition to math and ELA blocks, creative science lessons, and social studies exploration, weekly specials include Spanish, art, music, PE, Christian education, library, and technology. Each class gets a full 30 minutes of recess daily.

Our students do not utilize computers in the classroom until 6th-8th grades.

After School Opportunities

SPS is happy to offer daily aftercare from 3:00-6:00. Aftercare attendees get homework help, free-play time, and playground time.

Morning care is also available beginning at 7:30 AM.

In addition to our aftercare program, we also partner with local programs to bring fun and exciting after school activities to our campus!

We currently offer creative movement/dance, chess club, gymnastics, martial arts, garden club, and soccer but are always open to input from our students and families for clubs and programs that they'd like to see!
